Electric blue modern kitchen in Bradford on Avon

Posted by Bath Bespoke on 12 April 2017

We’ve just received the photos from the shoot of this fabulous kitchen we’ve recently completed and we’re very excited to share them with you. Hats off to the wonderful photographer Billy Bolton. This electric blue kitchen was designed for a young family and was part of a complicated extension development in their stunning town house in Bradford on Avon.

We had created a range of fitted furniture for the couple before, and they asked us back for this exciting new project based in the basement of their home. The couple had three young children, so we were briefed with a family centred kitchen that was easy to maintain but that was vibrant and fun.

Scandinavian style open plan living space

We designed and created a kitchen with this in mind, opting for a modern utilitarian vibe but going bold and vibrant on the cabinets. The kitchen was designed as a functional offshoot of the open plan living room/diner. We wanted to create a sense of unity and flow to the space but keep some of the kitchen based elements independent. As such we housed a double tier cooker and two large larders towards the back of the kitchen, along with the gas hob and placed the large under mounted double sink towards the entrance.

We added an open book shelf on the front of the unit to soften the entrance to the kitchen and blend the spaces together. It also provided a perfect place to house the couple’s cookery books.

All of the cabinets were created from birch ply carcasses, with composite slab doors with a shadow groove inlay in European oak. The cabinets were painted in a custom mix electric blue, and finished with a concrete effect Corian counter top, which we fabricated ourselves.

This blended perfectly with Marmoleum ‘concrete’ floor in Liquid Clay used throughout the space. Take a tour of the kitchen on our Portfolio page. If you’ve been inspired, then get in touch and discover how we can help create a new bespoke kitchen to suit you.
