Last week Dan and Will from the site team headed to a family home on the outskirts of Bath. This time they were tasked with constructing the gable-end style conservatory we had hand crafted in the workshop. Luckily it was lovely weather so the guys were able to get started with the job and began putting the main structure in place.

Our brief for the project was to create a beautiful space that suited the style of the home and would allow our clients to enjoy the coming summer months—fingers crossed. After speaking with our clients, we decided on a gable end style. This would add real grandeur to the home.

"putting-up-conservatory-bath"

A gable-end conservatory is square or rectangular in style, like a Georgian conservatory. With this style, the front of the roof doesn’t slope back to the centre. Instead, the front stays upright, like the end of a house. This gives the room a feeling of space and also maximises the light coming in. It also creates a stunning impact both inside and out—especially when the sun shines on it.

The family recently had an extended platform constructed onto their house, which the conservatory was designed to fit on. Once complete, it would provide a beautiful entrance and exit from the back of the home.

We decided upon Accoya as our material of choice. This is a high performance wood, ideal for outdoor use. It’s completely natural, but has undergone a process known as acetylation which greatly improves the wood’s dimensional stability. Each piece of timber was finished and painted in house and then coated in a patented wood coating which offers unprecedented protection and durability.
