Bespoke bedroom furniture for a Grade I listed townhouse
Posted by Bath Bespoke on 4 September 2018
We were recently asked by a high end building company we work for in Bath to design and make a bespoke fitted dressing room for an exciting project in Laura Place in Bath. The house is a Grade I listed Georgian townhouse at the end of Great Pulteney Street, a really special address in Bath.
The project
Springer Building Company had completed a full renovation and the bathroom and dressing room were the final pieces. We advised on how to incorporate the dressing room into the bathroom space and suggested that using the wardrobes as room dividers would be economical in space use, practical, and would look impressive. We took inspiration for the designs from the proportions and mouldings of the original architectural joinery.
We also liaised with the clients on internal storage needs, making one wardrobe shallower for shoe storage and shallower drawers. We lit the wardrobes internally and also above – with lighting shining upwards to illuminate the beautiful original and restored cornicing. Internals were in walnut and externally it was painted in Farrow and Ball. We also designed and created a dressing table and additional storage in the alcoves.
