Seamless period detailing

Posted by Bath Bespoke on 5 October 2020

Built-in furniture and wall panelling designed to complement existing details and bring period charm and elegance to a formal living room.

Our clients needed a built-in alcove cabinet for their television and AV equipment that could also provide generous book storage without dominating the space. We took our design cue from the property’s existing window shutters, matching the Shaker-style panelling, along with bespoke crown moulding and skirting to keep the lines of the room unbroken.

Inside, ventilated cabinetry ensured equipment housed would not overheat, while cable shoots at the back of the cabinet kept unsightly wires tucked neatly away and uplit shelves with warm white LEDs were activated by door sensors. The bi-fold doors were crafted from sustainable timber Accoya (taking advantage of its exceptional stability) and finished in a colour match to Mylands Paint’s ‘Museum’.

The wall panelling to finish the room was designed to bring period character and elegance to the space, in harmony with the proportions of the room. Bespoke beading was crafted and fitted to create a panelled effect, echoing design details of the existing doors and window shutters.
